Team
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
Our group consists of Professors, PhD students and scholars, as well master students. We have a continuous exchange of ideas and we do our best to carry out both experimental and modelling activities. Our aim is to achieve a notable advancement of knowledge in the research as well to support companies in their R&D or ordinary activities.

PhD Student
Antonio Trinca
Graduated in Chemical Engineering at University of Rome La Sapienza in 2021 with a thesis on the use of green hydrogen as substitute of carbon coke as fuel in the shaft furnace of steelmaking cycle process. His main research activities are the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors (Steel, Cast Iron, Cement and Glass) by the substitution of fossil fuels with waste-based ones. The work analyzes the whole process cycle and the chamber thermal profile and flame aerodynamic of rotary kiln and analogous facilities in CFD environment. In parallel, as experimental work, he carries out research on nanoparticles production for the development of innovative CO2 nanoabsorbents.

PhD Student
Valentina Segneri
Graduated in Chemical Engineering with Honor at the University of Rome La Sapienza in 2021 discussing a thesis focused on the valorization of OFMSW (Organic Fraction of MSW) by an Hydrothermal Liquefaction process. Her PhD scholarship is partially co-financed by an external Company (NextChem) and her main research activities are focused on dynamic modelling of gasifiers and pyrolyzers, flameless and superadiabatic combustion for the valorization of solid waste streams. In parallel, as experimental work, she carries out research on the recovery of waste biomass for the development of CO2 sorbent materials and their functionalization by nano-coating.

Junior Researcher
Daniele Patrizi
Graduated in Energy Engineering at University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2022 discussing a thesis on the aerodynamics of road vehicles. Notwithstanding his young age, he has been involved in several research projects during his Master Degree courses that allowed him to improve his skills in programming and CFD modelling. He won a scholarship (Assegno di Ricerca Tipo I) financed on the National Project T-CavBio, focused on the valorization of waste biomass through thermal-cavitation phenomenon. He also collaborates with the other DRACONS members on decarbonisation and combustion research topics.
